Top 7
Does anyone realistiocally think we can break into the current top 7? Methinks not. 8th at best.

FA cup for Europe then.

If he plays Nolan tonight he'll be hobbling by the WBA game.

Re: Top 7
When he did rotate the squad a bit for the Chelsea game in light of the arsenal game a few days later he got a huge cunting off about it.

If he did that tonight the board would be FULL of people moaning about him throwing the game before it's even started.

Re: Top 7
Stewie Chelsea was different as they one of our bitter rivals. Also we hadn't progressed as far in the FA Cup.

WBA away is well winnable and a QF place. I'd rest players tonight as it would be a hard enough game to get points with the first XI.

We have to get used to squad rotation if we want to challenge in multiple tournaments. We have a better squad to do that now than any time I can remember.

That's why putting Zarate on loan was stupid.

if we'd held on on Sunday we would have gone back above Liverpool!

True Eggy but the fact they was even in a position to scuttle so far up the league surprises me

to be more specific, both were poor LAST year but since December both have been on fantastic runs

Re: Top 7
How are Liverpool and Spurs so close to 4th ?????

Both have been so poor this year, we need to have another run just like before xmas and sharpish if we are to get anywhere near top 7

8-10th depending on how far FA Cup takes us is most likely

Re: Top 7
ag, thats partly my point, PD son. He gets a load of grief for being 'negative' and 'throwing' the game at Chelsea, but scratch the surface and everyone basically agrees.

Fuck that, I go into every game thinking we can win. Do that, and we win the league, with 114 points.

Doesn't mean I think I've let down when we don't do it.

Re: Top 7
Looking at the table - Chelsea are nailed in for the title. Man City way in their shadow. That leaves Arsenal moving up swfitly. We won't catch them now So that leaves just 4th place left.

As for the chasers - I think Man U are kicking above their weight big time. Yes they have had a long run of games being unbeaten but they are still playing badly. The pressure LVG showed by that bollocks over long ball yesterday means that they are starting to crack. So expect them to suffer against the other big boys and drop out of contention. Liverpool's squad is just not good enough in terms of fire power and Spurs maybe distracted if they go further in the UEFA League and win against Chelsea at Wembley.. Spurs have got away with murder this season, surely the luck won't last

As for Southampton - they too won't keep uo the pace forever - inexpereince will hamper them. Also they have their tough games later whereas our spat against the big boys is now. If we can emerge relatively unscathed, then it should be a good end to the season.

So Champions League forget but 5th, 6th or 7th
is on - so Europe for us is still looking good

Re: Top 7
Stewie - I'd have more believe if our manager did instead of bigging up the sides above us every time we play them. The fella is a disgrace. If you want to take a shot at someone who is managing expectations then look no further than Alladyce. W will never break into the top 6 under him , which is why he has to go.

Re: Top 7
When we were 3rd in December and flying, some Spurs fan at work was as you would expect being proper trappy, so I had a score with him we'd stay in the top 4!

More out of a fuck you than anything else, as I could've got handsome odds at the bookies.

Re: Top 7
If the OS is a success we could easily pass them by as a club.

Can you imagine how gutted they'd be?

WHU(Exeter) 2:13 Wed Feb 11
Re: Top 7
Well the way the media bang on about them, you'd think their League title haul was on a par with Mnchester Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool.

It's actually closer to that of Portsmouths and Ipswich Town.

Since the advent of the Premiership, they've finished fourth twice. In 22 years.

It does make me laugh that. Haven't Tottenham qualified for the European Cup/Champions League the same amount of times as we've won the FA Cup?

Re: Top 7
Don't appear to have to much of problem getting decent points off the teams 9 to 20 and gaining the odd good points from 1 to 7 much like everyone else in the top 8. So we will see.

Re: Top 7
On the flipside, Tottenham are 'seen' as a potential top 4 side, despite the fact that they hardly EVER actually fill one of the fucking positions.

WHU(Exeter) 2:00 Wed Feb 11
Re: Top 7
Stewie, totally agree - if you look back at the last 15 seasons or so, there are a number of clubs who wouldn't have been 'expected' to finish top 4.

I think a hell of a lot of it comes down to attitude and mentality.

Re: Top 7
"When it gets to the business end of the season the aforementioned sides will step it up, in fact they already have, where we will win one week then lose the next."

Exactly, why do we just accept that they WILL?
Man Utd looks bang average to everyone, including their own support.
Spurs have two players in form and a very good goalkeeper. They lost at home against Leicester two weeks ago.
Southampton had their guts ripped out last year.
Liverpool have had a decent run on the back of extremely friendly fixtures, it gets less easy for them from now, and apart from the odd performance, they look average as well.

I'm not saying I EXPECT to finish above them, but what's the point of supporting a club if you just accept we're going to finish below a load of others who aren't especially good, just because it's somehow their rightful place?
